Data Catalog for Paper -> Measuring Local Realities: Addressing Just Urban Sustainability in Colombian Cities

This dataset, contained in the file Catalogo_20260618.csv, compiles key indicators of urban development, sustainability, and quality of life for the main cities in Colombia (Bogotá, Medellín, Cali, Barranquilla, Bucaramanga, and Cartagena). The data is harmonized following a multidimensional framework inspired by global urban measurement methodologies (such as the City Prosperity Index). The catalog consolidates 583 records covering 5 critical dimensions of urban development: Productivity (P): Economic strength, variables such as GDP per capita, economic density, and unemployment/informality rates. Infrastructure Development (ID): Access to public services (water, sanitation, electricity), adequate housing, digital connectivity, and urban transport/mobility variables. Quality of Life (QOL): Health (life expectancy, mortality), education (literacy, schooling), safety (homicide and theft rates), and access to green public areas. Equity and Social Inclusion (ESI): Gini coefficient, poverty rates, youth unemployment, and gender equity in local government and the workforce. Environmental Sustainability (ES): Air quality ($PM_{10}$, $PM_{2.5}$, $SO_2$, $NO_2$ concentrations) and waste management (collection, wastewater treatment, and recycling share). Each record includes the specific metric, city, quantitative value, units of measurement, reference year, and web links (URL) to official primary information sources (such as DANE, ministries, and sector-specific databases). This open-access resource is designed for researchers, urban planners, policymakers, and citizens interested in comparative analysis, temporal evolution, and evidence-based policymaking within the Colombian urban context.
