Peculiarità linguistiche e analisi dei trattamenti fonetici nel dialetto di Carovigno

This paper gives a short description of the main phonetic properties of the dialect of Carovigno (Brindisi, Southern Apulia). While the linguistic classification of similar dialects which are described in areal surveys is easier, Carovigno dialect basically remains a border language. Some of its features are sometimes highlighted in order to show its relations with either northern Sallentinian or southern Apulian dialects. Accounting for the ancient roots of the settlements in its territory, our contribution provides evidence for the former position.
