CONTROL AND POWER MODULE FOR DRIVING A BRUSHLESS MOTOR IN A POWER TOOL

A power tool is provided including a tool housing; a brushless DC (BLDC) motor (110) disposed within the tool housing， the motor including a stator assembly (130) and a rotor assembly (140) rotatably disposed within the stator assembly (130); a substantially-cylindrical motor housing (120) having an open end for receiving the stator assembly (130) and a rear end， a motor control and power module (116) disposed in close proximity to the motor (110)， the motor control and power module (116) comprising a printed circuit board (PCB， 200)， a power switch (202) circuit electrically mounted on the PCB (200) and coupled to the motor (110)， and a controller also mounted on the PCB (200) and configured to control a switching operation of the power switch (202) circuit for supply of power from a power source to the motor (110); and a mounting bracket (114) at or near the rear end of the motor housing (120)， the mounting bracket (114) supporting the motor control and power module (116) such that the PCB (200) is disposed substantially parallel to the rear end of the motor housing (120).
