Information about a laboratory railway system: a dataset that integrates dynamic parameters and images of wheel wear

The dataset provides a comprehensive record of the behavior of a 1:20 scale railway system, including:

Monitoring of crucial dynamic parameters: Data on acceleration (on three axes), angular velocity (on three axes), linear train speed, and current were collected using a variety of integrated sensors.

Recording of input parameters: Key experimental conditions were documented, including three train speed levels (0.75 m/s, 1.15 m/s, 1.4 m/s) and two braking areas (straight to curve and curve to straight), replicated in 19 runs for each combination.

Wear evolution results: High-resolution images of the wheel profile (with and without pulley) were obtained using a digital optical microscope, capturing surface wear at different stages.

These data allow direct linking of dynamic parameters to wheel wear evolution under various operating conditions.
