The RNA-Seq dataset PRJNA627818 was re-analysed to check findings reported in the corresponding publication. RNA-Seq reads were trimmed with Trimmomatic (Bolger et al., 2014) and assembled with Trinity (Grabher et al., 2011). Encoded peptide sequences were predicted and functionally annotated using a previously developed approach (Haak et al., 2018). kallisto (Bray et al., 2016) was applied to estimate the abundance of transcripts based on transcriptome assemblies of three pitaya species and the raw RNA-Seq reads.
