In this project, subsurface and bottom waters were sampled from the subantarctic environment of the Beagle Channel next to Ushuaia Bay. The goal was to analyze the prokaryote fraction of the microbial community by means of 16S rRNA gene amplicon sequencing, in the frame of a comprehensive study of the system involving phytoplankton community, organic matter quality, viral role, etc.
