Microsatellite markers and genotypes of Ficus carica, rupestris and colchica used in this study

This dataset contains the microsatellite (SSR) genotyping data used in the article “Diffuse and regionally structured domestication of the common fig (Ficus carica L.) in the Mediterranean Basin” currently available as a preprint on bioRxiv (https://www.biorxiv.org/content/10.1101/2025.09.18.677149v1). The dataset includes 949 fig accessions (cultivated and spontaneous) sampled from 48 sites across 14 Mediterranean and Near Eastern countries, along with representatives of F. carica subsp. rupestris and F. colchica. The files are provided in GenAlEx format and can be directly used for population genetic analyses. These data support the analyses presented in the manuscript, including PCA, STRUCTURE clustering, and spatial genetic mapping. They can be reused for comparative studies of perennial crop domestication, genetic diversity, and conservation genomics.
