In this study, we aimed to explore the biological effect of ethanol exposure on a human colon 3D organoid model. This model serves as a representation of healthy colon epithelial cells. In this small pilot study, RNA sequencing and ATAC sequencing data was generated on 3 healthy male pairs (treated and untreated) 72 hours post exposure. We identified a number of differentially accessible regions and differentially expressed genes relevant to colorectal cancer, which may help elucidate molecular mechanisms through which ethanol exposure increases disease risk.
