The present study aims at characterizing the molecular basis of imidacloprid resistance in the mosquito Aedes aegypti. Resistance mechanisms were studied by transcriptomic data obtained from a laboratory strain selected at the larval stage for 30 generations with imidacloprid (Imida-R line). An additional line showing a lower resistance level was also created by releasing the selection pressure after 10 generations in order to improve resistance alleles detection and investigate fitness costs associated with resistance. Each line was analyzed in triplicate, each RNA sample being extracted from 30 4th stage larvae. RNA-seq libraries were sequenced on an illumina GAIIx sequencer as 75bp paired reads.
