Joint Nutrient Study (JONUS) hydrographic and nutrient data in the North Sea (1990-1993)

The Joint Nutrient Study (JONUS) coordinated by CEFAS, aims to identify and quantify the fate of river-borne nutrients entering the Wash and the Humber estuary, examining nutrient distributions and critical processes from the river inputs to the North Sea in intertidal and subtidal sediments and in the water column. Twenty cruises have been made to collect data since 1990 for the JONUS project. Data were collected using CTDs, water bottles and sediment cores and grab samples. The parameters measured were temperature, salinity, ammonia, suspended load, phosphate, nitrite and total oxidised nitrogen. Over 6000 samples have been collected in support of the study.
