Polychromatic Humanism, an emerging paradigm?

We are in an era of rapidly developing AI, automation and advanced technology, where marketing hype anthropomorphizes technology with terms like “intelligence”, “creativity” and “thought”. This language equivocates algorithmic processes that reductively simulate reasoning, with human cognition. This misleading characterization of AI is generating a pervasive sense of apprehension and fear. Meanwhile, the ‘deconstructive’ influences of postmodernism, and societal disintegration resulting from an adversarial environment of identity politics, are adding to a sense of instability and anxiety. There must be a path toward synergy — a sum greater than the parts — to reorient the human spirit in these times. And there must be a more balanced and creative orientation toward AI. This article explores a possible path forward called polychromatic humanism.
