Frequency of sightings of birds in York University

Laid down a 20m transect in 5 randomly chosen locations within a grassland area (trials 1-5), and in 5 randomly chosen locations within a woodlot area (trails 6-10). During each trial, transects were walked along while observations were made with the aid of binoculars (if needed), to find any birds that were stationary or flying. The observed variables recorded included: frequency of birds, bird species, wind measured according to the Beaufort scale, and an approximation of the distance from the observer to the bird(s). Bird species were identified using a handbook guide. The study was conducted on September 30th 2014 at York University with a temperature of 21 degrees Celsius with cloudy conditions. The grassland area of study was located east of Stong Pond (43.771218, -79.506578), where the experiment was conducted at 3:15 p.m. The woodlot area of study was in Saywell Woodlot (43.770280, -79.508262), where the experiment was conducted at 4:02 p.m. with a temperature of 21 degrees Celsius with cloudy conditions.
