The purpose of this study is to examine the seismic performance of infill walls made of various materials on a shear-wall building's exterior walls (inside walls are not included). A real tall building with a shear-wall system was taken into consideration for this study, and it initially met all of the codal requirements of IS 1893:2016 and IS 16700:2023. Various infill materials, including clay brick, autoclaved aerated concrete (AAC) blocks, and concrete, were analyzed. Various models were created taking into account the infill's mass alone as well as its mass and stiffness. The equivalent diagonal strut method described in IS 1893:2016 was used to model the stiffness of the infill. Equivalent static and linear dynamic (response spectrum) analyses were carried out to determine the key parameters, such as fundamental time-period, base shear, storey drift, storey stiffness, and storey shear. In addition, an equivalent wall element (EWE) was proposed as an alternative to the traditional equivalent diagonal struts (EDS). The result reveals that the EWE method is as accurate as EDS and significantly reduces computational requirements.
