资源简介:

The Mews is a building associated with Pavilion III located in the University of Virginia's Academcal Village; the current form of this structure is the result of 7 distinct campaigns of renovation since it was first constructed as an enslaved residence and kitchen building to service Pavilion III ca. 1829; the data accessed here is the result of 3D laser scanning of this structure from different periods of renovation; the 2016 data records the remnants of the original serpentine wall that lie beneath the floorboards of The Mews; these wall foundations were discovered by Rivanna Archaeology in 2016; other periods of data collection found here comes from 2023 and 2024; in Sept 2023, UVA Architectural History class ARH5600: 3D Cultural Heritage Informatics taught by Will Rourk, recorded The Mews in a vacated state shortly after residential occupancy - this dataset can be considered the baseline data to which the other data recordings are registered; data from Decemeber 2023 records removal of 20th century wall and floor coverings to reveal the original structure; data from February 2024 records further removal of 20th century material to reveal an original hearth at the western end of the building; more information regarding the history and construction of The Mews can be obtained from the UVA Office of the Architect's Historical Structures Report which can be downloaded at http://bit.ly/TheMewsHSR;
