VPRS 15613 Architect Files, Closer Settlement and Discharged Soldier Settlement

This series contains relating to the provision of housing for closer and soldier settlers. Details given can include the application to the Closer Settlement Board (VA 2266), correspondence relating to the application, plans and specifications, details of tenders from contractors and details of Board hearings with respect to applications.Section 9 of the Closer Settlement Act 1906 (later Section 96 of the Closer Settlement Act 1915) had given the Board the power to erect dwelling houses and outbuildings and to make improvements on allotments.
