资源简介:
The type of bedding used for chickens is important for their well-being. This study analyzed the chemical composition of different kinds of bedding and how they affected broiler chickens' performance and footpad health. They used Ross 308 broilers and divided them into 3 groups: one on chopped straw (S), another on coffee husks (CHs), and a third on pellet bedding made from a combination of S and CHs. They examined the bedding's dry matter, crude fiber, nitrogen, phosphorus, potassium content, and pH. The production results were observed over 42 days, and footpad health was assessed. Additionally, they analyzed the carcass tissue composition, meat quality characteristics (pH, color, water holding capacity, drip loss), and bone-breaking strength. The dataset presents raw data related to the publication: Biesek, J., Banaszak, M., Grabowicz, M. Wlaźlak, S. Chopped straw and coffee husks affect bedding chemical composition and the performance and foot pad condition of broiler chickens. Sci Rep 13, 6600 (2023). https://doi.org/10.1038/s41598-023-33859-9.The data was obtained as a part of a project entitled "Research on the use of coffee husks in bedding for broiler chickens and ducks", No. 2021/05/X/NZ9/00820, financed by the National Science Center (Poland). (Project Investigator: Biesek, Jakub). This dataset contains data on:production results dataphenotypic features (carcasses) datafootpad dermatitis scoring datachemical composition of bedding materials data
