Dataset of 'A nationwide 24-hour floating population dataset for South Korea derived from multi-source data, 2022-2024'

This dataset provides a nationwide, high-resolution (1 km) floating population (de facto population) dataset for South Korea covering the years 2022–2024. The floating population estimates were generated using a machine learning approach, integrating various data sources such as mobile phone records, meteorological variables, and holiday/weekend effects to improve the accuracy of temporal and spatial patterns. This approach allows the dataset to capture human mobility across South Korea. The dataset includes annual collections of 1 km resolution floating population maps, distributed as compressed GeoTIFF files (ZIP format). File format: Each GeoTIFF file is named as Floating_pop_YYYYMMDD.tif and contains 24 bands, each representing the floating population for one hour of the corresponding day. For example, Floating_pop_20230101.tif provides the 1 km floating population distribution for 1 January 2023, with 24 hourly layers. Coordinate Reference System (CRS): EPSG:5179 (Korea 2000 / Unified CS).
