Amplicon sequencing of the V4 region of captive primates from Czech and Slovak zoological gardens.. Captive primate gut microbiome

This study was performed on captive primates in Czech and Slovak zoological gardens. 61 primate fecal samples were collected from New World monkeys and Old World monkeys. The samples are further divided by the feeding preference on frugivore-insectivores, gummivore-insectivores, frugivore-folivores to frugivore-omnivores. And amplicon sequencing of the V4 region was performed using the Illumina NovaSeq technology. The study focused on Bifidobacterial presence in primate gut and their benefit on the hols wellbeing. The proportion and diversity of Bifidobacteria broadly reflected the primate feeding strategy.
