A representative embryo expressing mcherry-tubulin (red) was microinjected with purified KLP10A-GFP (green), which formed a visible concentration gradient and localized normally. Close to the injection site, KLP10A depolymerase activity destabilized metaphase spindles whereas more distal metaphase spindles were stable but displayed no anaphase B spindle elongation. Mitosis was normal at very distal sites. See Figure 3A for the injection site.
