Digital Archive from an Archaeological Monitoring and Recording at Bantam House, Church Lane, White Roding, Essex, October 2024

This collection comprises images, survey drawings and Written Scheme of Investigation from an archaeological monitoring and recording at Bantam House, Church Lane, White Roding, Essex. Work was carried out by Colchester Archaeological Trust in October 2024. Archaeological monitoring was carried out during groundworks for the construction of a new dwelling which lies inside the boundary a homestead moated site (EHER 4359), within the curtilage of the Grade II Listed Old Rectory and immediately east of the Grade II* St Martin's Church, comprising a single rectangular enclosure of medieval date. The archaeological monitoring revealed previously unknown continuation of the moat to the north of the site, as well as four post-medieval/modern pits.
