Characterization of metallurgical ceramics from the Late Bronze Age settlement of Enkomi, Cyprus through the application of SEM-EDS

The current dataset comprises the chemical analysis of the Late Bronze Age archaeometallurgical ceramic assemblage discovered in Area III at Enkomi, Cyprus. Through the application of SEM-EDS, we have determined that these ceramics were specifically utilized for copper-based secondary metallurgical activities. This project marks the first comprehensive study of technical ceramics within Cypriot archaeometallurgy, offering significant insights into the organization of copper production on the island during the 2nd millennium BCE. Moreover, our findings underscore the importance of the dataset providing valuable information for further research and comparative analyses aimed at understanding the various stages of the copper production sequence in Cyprus as evidenced by metallurgical ceramic assemblages. The dataset was created as part of the first author's doctoral research.
