Genomes of urinary Enterococcus faecalis isolates isolated from postmenopausal women

Enterococcus faecalis, a Gram-positive bacterium, is an increasingly frequent cause of UTI, especially in complicated or recurrent cases. Despite the rise in E. faecalis RUTI, little is known about the mechanism by which E. faecalis colonizes the urinary tract and the genetic determinants that enable its persistence. In this study, we sought to generate a useful collection of high-quality genomic sequences of clinical urinary E. faecalis isolates for the purposes of urinary-focused comparative genomics.
