A long-term bird monitoring program was established at the Toolik Field Station in northern Alaska in 2008. We conduct weekly avian point-count surveys near the field station during the breeding season (late May to late July). We use the protocol developed by the Alaska Landbird Monitoring Survey to detect bird species by sound and sight and estimate the radial distance to the birds at nineteen points along four transect routes during 10-minute periods.
