The Federal Administrative Court Dataset (FACD) includes 47 variables with metadata on all 85,485 cases decided by the Swiss Federal Administrative Court between January 2007 and December 2024 that have been made available on its website.
The FACD is part of Florian Geering’s Ph.D. thesis Access to the Swiss Federal Supreme Court - An Empirical Perspective on Appeals in Matters of Public Law.
The FACD was created by downloading the judgments from the mirror at entscheidsuche.ch. Judgment texts were processed with an automated text-mining and NLP pipeline programmed in R, using formulation-based extraction (regular expressions) and supervised machine learning (random forests).
The FACD builds on and is designed to be interoperable with the Swiss Federal Supreme Court Dataset (SCD) and is a twin dataset to the Zurich Administrative Court Dataset (ZACD).
