Last 1200-years biomarker records of sediment core from the Cattle Pond, Xisha Islands, South China Sea

The 184-cm-long lake sediment core NY2, collected from the Cattle Pond on Dongdao Island (16°39′–16°41′N, 112°43′–112°45′E), Xisha Islands, South China Sea (SCS), is used to analyze decadally-resolved glycerol dialkyl glycerol tetraether (GDGT) and n-alkane compounds over the last ~1200 years. Together with other previously published hydroclimate paleorecords over the SCS and western tropical Pacific, we are able to investigate the multidecadal- to centennial- scale variations and the primary forcing of regional hydrological conditions during the past millennium.
