"Free yourself from labels": gender and sexuality issues in literacy practice in Facebook active communities

This article analyzes the construction of meanings and the (de)construction of identity categories of gender and sexuality in literacy practices in facebook communities. Oriented myself by the performative theory of gender and queer theory and discusses commentaries of two posted messages dealing with violence against humans in a feminist community and in an anti-homophobic community. These comments, you can find a conviviality of more or less traditional, subversive and/or transgressing meanings on gender and sexuality. There is a configuration of a multi-directional movement which, up to a certain point, marks the transgression of values on the border in which these communities lie. Through hybridization and the mixture of categories in process within their activist spaces, it is worthwhile to (re)think the forces in the configuration of human pain especially with regard to that related to gender and sexuality issues analyzed in the text.
