THE FUTURE OF ENGLISH LANGUAGE TEACHING IN THE AGE OF ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE
收藏资源简介:
This article examines the future of English language teaching in the age of artificial intelligence. It considers how conversational chatbots, generative AI, adaptive learning applications, and automated feedback systems are changing the ways learners practice English and receive support. The article discusses possible benefits, including individualized learning pathways, immediate feedback, expanded opportunities for speaking and writing practice, and improved learner autonomy. It also addresses significant concerns: unequal digital access, inaccurate feedback, algorithmic bias, academic integrity, privacy, and over-dependence on automated assistance. The central argument is that artificial intelligence should not replace English teachers. Instead, it should be used as a supportive tool that allows teachers to devote more attention to communication, critical thinking, creativity, cultural understanding, and individual learner needs.
