Halomonas is a bacterial genus in the class Gammaproteobacteria widely distributed in natural environments, including various extreme environments. The versatility and stress tolerance properties of this genus is of ecological and of evolutiionnary interest. To better understand Halomonas selective advantages, genome-based approaches are meaningfull. In this context, the functional and comparativ genomic analyses of Halomonas lionensis genome was initiated, explaining the "Halomonas lionensis" genome project.
