The study provides a genome-wide quantitative reduced representation sequencing (qRRS) of 767 sweetpotato accessions in the USDA germplasm, and consequently used for variant calling and metagenome profiling. The study uses a novel approach GBSpoly (updated and now referred to as OmeSeq-qRRS), a quantitative assay, which allows for dosage-sensitive genotyping of the hexaploid sweetpotato accessions. Due to the high sequencing coverage, a small proportion the data (~1-2%) provides a robust profile of the leaf-associated metagenomes of the sweetpotato accessions. The metagenome profile captures a broad spectrum of taxon ranging from viruses to eukaryotes (e.g. nematodes, insects, mites).
