Evaluation of flea-borne pathogens in fleas from homes, cats, and dogs in Florida using 16S short-read and long-read sequencing

Fleas were collected from 3 different sources (cats, dogs and traps) in homes with fleas infestations in Florida. Fleas were pooled by collection source (cat, dog, or trap) and tested using short-read 16S-rRNA next generation sequencing (Illumina), as well long-read (full-length) 16S-rRNA next generation sequencing (PacBio).
