Microbial communities at the water-sediment interface in an extremely acidic lake in northern Patagonia

Lake Caviahue is an extremely acidic lake (due to the influence of Copahue Volcano) with a horseshoe shape located inside the Caviahue caldera within the Copahue-Caviahue Provincial Park in Argentina. Samples were collected from littoral waters and from the epilimnion, metalimnion, and bottom layer at the deepest point (95 m) of the North Arm of Lake Caviahue.Illumina 150 bp paired-end read libraries were sequenced using HiSeq and MiSeq sequencers. Amplification of the V4 16 S rRNA region was performed with primer 515F and 806R.
