Exserohilum turcica Et28A Genome sequencing and assembly

Sustainable growth of bioenergy crops depends on our understanding and ability to control plant pathogens. The Dothideomycetes represent one of the largest groups of plant pathogens (including bioenergy crops) with diverse hosts and mechanisms of pathogenicity. Most of the hosts of the pathogens proposed for sequencing here have been sequenced, many at JGI, and sequences of the pathogens would help understand their interactions and lead to better disease control for increased production of biofuel feedstocks with fewer inputs. Broad and deep sampling of this group of pathogens should help to understand and control the various mechanisms of pathogenicity and therefore is well aligned with the DOE mission for bioenergy research.
