OverviewTheInfectionpreventionandcontrolinthecontextofcoronavirusdisease2019(COVID-19):alivingguidelineconsolidatestechnicalguidancedevelopedandpublishedduringtheCOVID-19pandemicintoevidence-informedrecommendationsforinfectionpreventionandcontrol(IPC).ThislivingguidelineisavailablebothonlineandPDF.Thisversionofthelivingguideline(version6.0)includesfifteenstatementsonIPCmeasuresinhealth-caresettings(screeningandpatientplacement,ventilation,physicalbarriers,environmentalcleaning,wastemanagement,amongstothers)aswellasonestatementonmaskfitinthecommunitycontext.UnderstandingtheupdatedsectionTheupdatetothisguidelineconsidersthetransitionfromcriticalemergency-responseactivitiestolonger-term,sustainedCOVID-19diseaseprevention,controlandmanagement,andashifttowardsintegrationofIPCactivitiesintoroutinesystemsandpractices.Thisincludesareturntostandardandtransmission-basedprecautionsinhealth-caresettings,andtheadoptionofpublichealthpracticesforcommunitysettings.Updatedrecommendationsforhealth-carefacilitiesincludeafocusonthehierarchyofcontrolmeasures,sourcecontrol,standardandtransmission-basedprecautions.Thepreventionofhealthcare-associatedinfectionsinvolvesamulti-prongedandmulti-factorialapproachthatincludesinfectionpreventionandcontrolandoccupationalhealthandsafetymeasures.
