VPRS 11487 Singing Teachers Primary Certificate Register

The first two registers contain pro-forma pages, one teacher per page and entries are arranged chronologically from bottom to top.The pro-forma information consists of the teachers name, record number, school name and number and date of examination. Examination results follow:Section 1 - memory of tune (5 sections), marks for each section, and totalSection 2 - ear test (4 sections), marks for each section, and totalSection 3 - time (4 sections), marks for each section, and totalSection 4 - staff notation (4 sections), marks for each section, and totalFollowing this is a Grand Total, and the proviso The Candidate, besides securing the Pass Marks in each separate Section, must obtain a total of not less than 90 marks in order to completely pass in these (Practical) Requirements. A result of either Pass, Fail, or Pending is then given, along with the signature of the Examiner.Following this is the assessment of a Class Lesson. This entry comprises the school name and number, date, result, and Examiners signature.In the second register, from about 1950, numerical marks cease and individual tests are graded either P(pass) or F(fail).The third register in the series, a summary of information contained in the first two registers, groups about ten to twenty teachers on the one page. At the top of the page is the date of the exam and location where exam was held.The information listed includes the teacher record number, teachers name, school number and name, and total marks for each of the four above-mentioned sections, but not for the individual tests within each section, an overall result, and any comments (such as: Grade V Piano, good singing voice, limited range, etc). In this summary register, numerical marks cease around 1942, after which the grade given is either P or F.
