Here we present the first high-quality genome of diamondback moth (DBM), Plutella xylostella, a worldwide destructive pest of cruciferous plants, aimed at facilitating studies on evolution and genetics of herbivore-plant interactions, insecticide resistance, and functional genomics of developmental biology of DBM. Such studies are extremely important for managing insecticide resistance, understanding genetic mechanisms underlying insect-plant co-evolution, and developing novel tactics for pest control.
