"In this paper, a method is introduced to estimate thepedestrian movement direction angle utilizing the received heat-fluxsignal from a single pyroelectric infrared (PIR) sensor. Thisis achieved by processing the heat-flux signal to form a nonlinearequation that is a function of the pedestrian\u2019s direction angle andtime. Subsequently, solving this nonlinear equation over differenttime samples yields an estimate of this angle. Simulation results,provided in the paper, validate the proposed method."
