Mushroom Spring YNP metagenomic assembly for phototrophic microbial undermat community. hot springs metagenome

Phototrophic microbial mat communities inhabiting hot spring effluent channels provide model communities for understanding principles in microbial ecology. This study was enacted to reveal the composition and functional attributes of organisms inhabiting deeper layers of the mat community, in contrast to previous studies focusing on cyanobacteria and other principal phototrophic bacteria occupying the surfaces of these mats.
