Railway signal boxes

A signal box is an installation allowing for the maneuvering of switches, the layout of routes and the control of signals in order to authorize the movement along railway routes in complete safety in its area of action. The train service regularity (in collaboration with Traffic Control), and the control of the sound system and the information screens in stations (customer information on the movement of passenger trains) are also ensured from signal boxes.
Infrabel is gradually concentrating the signal boxes in larger control centers, thereby intending to better harmonize and modernize the monitoring of rail transport. A very extensive modernization process in which a lot is happening!
