Whole genome sequence of Neisseria elongata NR3887. Neisseria elongata

Neisseria elongata is one of the human commensal Neisseria species. Neisseria species is Gram-negative and shows a predominantly diplococci morphology, whereas N. elongata is rod-shaped. N. elongata NR3887 was isolated as a Gram-negative rod from a patient's blood culture medium and showed reduced susceptibility to penicillins and cephalosporins. To elucidate the cause of this susceptibility, we extracted the whole genome sequence of NR3887 and evaluated penA, a gene involved in resistance.
