Hula painted frog (Latonia nigriventer) 2013-2025

This dataset contains labeled and unlabeled images of the Hula painted frog (Latonia nigriventer), a critically endangered amphibian species endemic to the Hula Valley, Israel. It was compiled to support the development and evaluation of automatic photo-identification methods for individual recognition and long-term population monitoring of this rare species.

The dataset includes images collected in the field, spanning multiple observation dates. A subset of images has been manually annotated with individual frog identities by domain experts (labeled set). A second subset contains images for which individual identities were inferred using the method described in the associated publication (see citation below), where ID numbers correspond across files — individual x in the unlabeled set matches individual x in the labeled set.
