The Svalbard Global Seed Vault Seed Portal is a database that provides storage information of global seed samples. It stores over 980,000 seed samples from gene banks around the world, covering 4,551 species and 841 genera. As a long-term safety backup for global crop diversity, the Svalbard Global Seed Vault is owned by Norway and jointly managed by the Norwegian Ministry of Agriculture, the Nordic Genetic Resource Center (NordGen) and the Crop Trust.
