We analyzed five metagenomes of prokaryote communities that inhabit the top sediments of hypersaline soda lakes in the Kulunda Steppe (South-Western Siberia, Russian Federation). Almost thousand metagenome-assembled genomes (MAGs) from mostly uncultured and novel haloalkaliphilic prokaryotes were obtained. We described the metabolic capacities of the most abundant lineages and the first extremophilic members of the Candidate Phyla Radiant (CPR).
