PvPAM: South American P. vivax genome assembly

This study provides a P. vivax reference genome (named PvPAM) obtained from a malaria patient from the Peruvian Amazon, assembled from PacBio long reads. The patient blood sample was leukocyte-depleted, and did not undergo culture adaptation prior to sequencing. Library preparation was done using the PacBio Ultra-Low DNA Input protocol, starting from 9 ng of DNA. The assembled genome was polished with Illumina reads obtained from the same patient isolate. Publicly available South American P. vivax WGS data were mapped to the PvPAM reference genome, resulting in a vcf file containing variants representative for P. vivax isolates from the South American continent.
