Identification and functional studies of colonisation determinants in Staphylococcus aureus

Within this project we aim to 1) identify novel determinants promoting nasal and throat colonisation, respectively, 2) explore the biological function of some selected determinants and 3) define some putative host interaction partners. We have the advantage of immediate access to unique and in depth characterised bacterial strain collections, systematically registered with geno- and phenotypic information. Established in-house methodology will contribute to the fundamental understanding of determinants and their biological function(s). Through our national and international collaborations we access state of the art competence in bioinformatics, bacterial pathogenesis, structural biology and molecular mimics design.
