Rna-Seq of Spodoptera frugiperda invasive to China

The fall armyworm Spodoptera frugiperda (Lepidotera:Noctuidae) is an indigenous polyphagous pest in Americas. However, since its first invasion to Africa in 2016, more and more newly continents among Africa and Asia have been implicated. In early 2019, China firstly reported the invasive species in Yunnan province. Here, via metagenomic sequence of S.frugiperda collected in Yunnan, we provided a basic profiling of parasitoids, bacteria, plant, fungi and virus indwell in the novel alien invasive species. Implications of potential parasitoid and parasite species detected in our sample were briefly discussed. Additionally, basing on both COI gene barcoding and SNPs of Tpi gene, we speculated an interstrain hybrids of COI-Rice Strain and Tpi-Corn Strain invasion. These results suggested the presence of S.frugiperda in China and that plant hosts both corn and rice were at high risk of fall armyworm infestation.
