VPRS 74 Outward Letter Books to Local and Sydney, Lands Branch

These volumes contain copies of Lands Branch outward correspondence to local government officials, private persons and the Colonial Secretary (Sydney). Letters addressed to local government officials (mainly Commissioners of Crown Lands) convey instructions concerning the implementation of regulations, notices of land sales and forrwarding forms. Letters to private persons (including instructions) concern the results of applications for leases and requests for grants of Crown lands. Those letters to the Colonial Secretary (Sydney) concern policy direction in administering Land Regulations, notification of applications for land including appropriations for public use and requests for the Governor's sanction for land transactions. Other matters in these letters include Blue Book returns, administration salaries and appointments.Early letters in Unit 1 are also to be found in the volume for the same time period in VPRS 16 Outward Letter Books.
