资源简介:
An archaeological phase IA resource assessment (ARA) of the proposed Rutland Transmission Line Reconductoring Project has been completed by the Northeast Archaeology Research Center, Inc. (NE ARC) on behalf of Central Vermont Public Service (CVPS). The project includes the reconductoring of an existing 2.5-mile transmission line in the Town of Rutland, Rutland County, Vermont. The entire length of the 100 ft wide corridor was assessed including background research and field inspection. A total of nine specific areas along the corridor were determined to have archaeological sensitivity for potential Native American archaeological sites, designated ASAs 1-9. The assessment indicates that there is little likelihood for significant historic Euroamerican archaeological resources to be present. It is recommended that archaeological phase IB survey be conducted if project related construction activities, including pole replacement and/or construction vehicle access, are to take place within the sensitive areas in order to determine if National Register of Historic Places (NRHP) eligible archaeological sites are present. All other portions of the project corridor are considered unlikely to preserve significant archaeological sites and no additional archaeological work outside of the defined ASAs is recommended prior to project construction.
