Most common reasons for buying a pre-owned apartment in Japan FY 2021

Affordability was the leading reason for buying a second-hand home in Japan, a survey conducted between September and November 2022 found. Over 68 percent of households that bought pre-owned apartments in the fiscal year 2021 did so because it fit within their budget. At the same time, around 38.2 percent stated that they did not attach importance to buying a new home.
