资源简介:
This collection comprises images and a report from an Archaeological Survey and Recording in the intertidal zone adjacent to Black Shed, The Batts, Whitby, North Yorkshire. The work was carried out by Green Man Archaeology in February 2024. Green Man Archaeology were commissioned to undertake archaeological survey and recording in the intertidal zone adjacent to Black Shed, The Batts, Whitby, North Yorkshire. Two partial wrecked boats and the slipway emerging from the Black Shed itself were recorded equivalent to a Level 1-2 standing building recording (SBR). Black Shed I is probably the remains of a small motor yacht or part of the bow of a 10-12m boat, such as a small (10m) open boat seine netter or a (12m) Scarborough/Yorkshire yawl. Black Shed II bears some resemblance to the stern of a smack. The development area was mudlarked for finds (fieldwalking in the tidal zone) but on assessment the entire assemblage was discarded as insignificant.
