资源简介:
Under the mounting pressures of geopolitical instability, climate volatility, and economic shocks, global food security demands a dynamic, data-driven reassessment beyond static indices and subjective weightings. This study constructs a multidimensional Food Security Index (FSI) for 122 countries (2000–2021) using Principal Component Analysis (PCA) to objectively weight 15 indicators across the FAO’s four pillars (availability, access, utilization, and stability). Unlike conventional indices, our approach captures 60.36% of variance through data-driven dimensionality reduction, revealing latent structural disparities. K-means clustering segments countries into four distinct tiers, exposing stark regional divides: Sub-Saharan Africa and South Asia dominate the "very low" security cluster, while high-income nations exhibit resilience through stable governance and infrastructure. The index’s convergent validity is confirmed via strong correlation (Spearman’s ρ = 0.81) with the Global Food Security Index, yet it surpasses existing benchmarks by integrating transient shocks (e.g., COVID-19, Ukraine war) and non-linear interactions (e.g., political stability’s outsized role in low-income contexts). By transcending calorie-centric metrics, this framework equips policymakers to target systemic vulnerabilities, from agro-climatic adaptation in vulnerable regions to urban-rural dietary gaps in affluent economies, offering a scalable tool for anticipatory governance in an era of compounding crises..
